Many countries’ industries use natural gas as their energy source; initially, natural gas was supplied through pipelines country by country and within cities. The United States is in first place in consumption with around 689 billion cubic meters in 2011. Russia and European countries are in second and third place, respectively, and some of these countries get their gas through pipelines from other countries.
