3 Caring Tips for the Skin and Sunscreen: Skin’s Best Friend Ever

Our favorite celebrities cannot stop flaunting their beautiful skin on social media platforms, and all of us wonder whether we can ever get that perfect flawless glass skin in our lives. That doesn’t seem fair, but it is a fact.

Ever since social media platforms became popular, we cannot seem to stop scrolling through our favorite models and actors with their gorgeous skin and healthy shiny hair. While it may seem like trouble, taking care of the skin is actually not very hard and requires little effort and time on our part.

But first, let us consider the worst enemy of our skin, and that is the sun. Most people don’t know this, but the sun is the culprit for damaging the skin or causing age spots or hyperpigmentation on the face.

Tanning is another issue faced by numerous people, and they opt for either homemade remedies or professional tan removal treatments at skin salons by skin specialists.

Effects of the Sun

Our skin is the outermost layer of the body with the most important function to protect our vital organs, blood vessels, and the interior of the body. This is because the outer atmosphere is filled with harmful bacteria and germs along with chemical pollutants in the environment these days that can severely harm the inside functioning of the body.

While the skin serves as a protecting barrier, it may also need our care and attention from time to time, especially when one is living in a tropical country like India or near the equator, where the sunlight is direct and very powerful.

Like other stars, the sun is a huge ball of gas and fire, continuously creating energy through a chemical process called nuclear fusion. While this process creates energy to give us light and life, it also releases a huge amount of energy in the ultraviolet band of the electromagnetic spectrum of light.

The ultraviolet rays coming from the sun are the ones to blame when it comes to harming the skin and promoting aging. Our best ally is sunscreen and any other chemical or physical method of trying to create a barrier between the sun rays and our skin.

Prolonged exposure to the sun without sunscreen can even cause skin diseases like cancer. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can cause the skin cells to proliferate and cause a long-term defect.

People with less color on the skin have fewer color-creating cells, so their skin is lighter. When skin like this comes in contact with direct sunlight, it can be burnt, and when darker skin comes in contact with the sun, more color or melanin is produced, causing it to become darker, hence causing a tan.

Tan removal treatments can help remove old or new tans from the skin and make the skin look new, fresh, and young.

Caring Tips for the Skin

While the sun and the external environment is our skin’s enemy, we can do certain things at home or every day to ensure that our skin suffers less damage from the sun or the pollution in the atmosphere and our skin stays healthy.

EXFOLIATE

One of the most underrated steps in skincare and also one step that is suggested by skin specialists and dermatologists is to exfoliate. In simple words, exfoliating the skin means removing the upper layer of dead skin cells from the skin by using either a homemade or a manufactured scrub.

People also use a scrub to exfoliate their arms and legs, which not only improves the color and texture of the skin but also improves blood circulation.

USE A SUNSCREEN

This step cannot be stressed enough. Most of the problems related to the skin like pigmentation, age spots, tanning, etc., can be prevented by using a generous amount of sunscreen before going out. Not just the harmful effects of exposure to the sun, using sunscreen also helps in keeping the skin safe from the harmful effects of pollution and chemicals.

VITAMIN C

Another ally to protect the skin from sun and pollution damage is using vitamin C on the skin. It reverses the effects of aging as well as sun damage but needs to be used with care. Vitamin C serums have recently flooded the markets, thanks to research telling us the benefits of vitamin C for the skin. These serums must be used on a cleansed face and always shielded with sunscreen on top as sunlight can cause vitamin C to chemically dissociate and become a harmful agent for the skin.
